Rock Valley, Iowa– A tractor was destroyed in a fire on Thursday, May 17, 2018, near Rock Valley.

According to Rock Valley Fire Chief Brent Eshuis, about 8:20 p.m., the Rock Valley Fire Department was called to the report of a tractor on fire near 2691 278th Street, two and a half miles north and two miles east of Rock Valley along the Rock River.

The chief says the fire department saw a tractor fully engulfed as they approached the scene. He says they used water and foam to fight the fire.

Eshuis says no injuries were reported.

He says the cause of the fire is undetermined, but the roughly fifteen-year-old front-wheel assist Case/IH tractor was totaled.

He says they used about 600 gallons of water to fight the fire, and the 17 firefighters who responded were on the scene for about 25 minutes.
