anne-frankNorthwestern College will host the “Anne Frank: A History for Today” exhibit from January 23rd to March 3rd on the first floor of the DeWitt Learning Commons. An opening reception is scheduled for Thursday, January 26th, at 7:00 p.m. in the Vogel Community Room. The public is invited to attend.

The international exhibition was developed by the Anne Frank House and is sponsored in North America by the Anne Frank Center for Mutual Respect, the U.S. national organization in the family of Anne Frank organizations worldwide. The exhibit introduces visitors to the events leading up to World War II and depicts individuals who chose to join the Nazi party, those who were bystanders and those who resisted.

Also being displayed at the same time is the Roderich & Elisabeth Wolff Scrapbook, located in the lower level of the DeWitt Learning Commons. This exhibit, donated by Northwestern theatre professor Jeff Barker, features a historical recounting of a young German couple’s experience with World War II in Amsterdam.

Both exhibits are available for self-guided viewing during normal business hours. The DeWitt Learning Commons is open Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to midnight; Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Sunday from noon to midnight. Guided tours of the Anne Frank exhibit are available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. To schedule a guided tour, contact Wendell Kampman at 712-707-7002 or wendell.kampman@nwciowa.edu.
