The Dordt Defender basketball teams will be at home against Hastings on Saturday, February 15 with the women’s contest at 2:00 and the men’s game at about 4:00.

The Hastings Bronco women are 26-1 this season after seeing their bid for an undefeated season come to an end on Wednesday at Concordia.  The Broncos and Bulldogs are now tied for first place in the GPAC with 18-1 records and three games remaining.

The Hastings men are 13-14 this season and 6-11 in the GPAC. After winning four in a row from January 15-25 the Broncos have lost four in a row from January 29-February 12.

The Defenders are 20-7 this season and 12-7 in the GPAC.

Erika Feenstra is averaging a team high 18.0 points per game with 5.9 rebounds and she is making 60.9 percent of her field goals and is 118-146 from the free throw line. Rachel Evavold and Karly Gustafson are both averaging 9.9 points per game and have converted 56.9 and 61.4 percent of their field goal attempts. Bailey Beckman’s average is 7.9 points per game and Gabby Kreykes is at 6.3. Payton Harmsen leads the team with 38 made three-point baskets

Dordt outscores teams 81.3-68.1 and convert 46.4 percent of its field goals and 29.4 percent of its three-point shots. The Defenders allow 38.4 percent field goal shooting and 27.6 from the arc.  Dordt is outrebounding teams 43.0-33.2 and have forced 325 turnovers by steals.

The Defender men are 20-8 this season and 11-7 in the league with two regular season games remaining.

Garrett Franken leads the team with a 16.0 points per game average and 7.5 rebounds with 58 assists and 16 blocks. Jesse Jansma is at 11.6 points per game and is second on the team in made three-point baskets with 45. Cade Bleeker’s average is 10.7 points per game and he gets 4.3 rebounds.  He has made a team high 61 three-point shots and is converting 46.6 percent of his attempts from behind the arc. Zach Bussard and Marcus Winterfeld are at 9.5 and 9.2 points per game and Ben Gesink and Josh Van Lingen score 7.6 and 7.2 respectively. Gesink has lifted his three-point success to 40.5 percent. Chad Barkema is at 10.2 points per game and 5.1 rebounds. Barkema also has 19 steals, 14 blocked shots and 51 assists but Barkema is out indefinitely with a hand injury suffered in the loss to Dakota Wesleyan on January 15.  Jansma leads the Defenders with 73 assists and Dordt has six players with 49 or more assists and seven players who have converted 23 or more three-point shots.

Dordt is outscoring teams 86.2-76.2 and outrebound teams 39.9-34.6.  Dordt also converts 48.0 percent of its field goal tries and 39.1 percent of its three-point shots while limiting teams to 44.4 percent field goal shooting and 35.5 behind the arc.

The Dordt teams will be on the road to Yankton, South Dakota on Wednesday night, February 19 for a doubleheader that will conclude the men’s regular season. The Defender women will be at home to face the College of Saint Mary in a 3:00 start on February 22 to conclude the women’s regular season.
