Two Northwestern College volleyball players, Lacey Wacker and Anna Wedel, were selected to the 2019 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Volleyball team as announced by the CoSIDA national office.

The 2019 Academic All-District® Volleyball Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes volleyball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team (if applicable) Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early December.

Wacker and Wedel were among the 10 players named to the NAIA District 3 team. Wacker, a junior Physical Education and Health major with a 3.81 GPA, leads the NAIA in assists per set (11.9) for the second-ranked Red Raiders. Wacker ranks among the GPAC’s top 10 in ace serves and directs one of the top hitting teams in the NAIA. She is a two-time all-conference selection and was named an NAIA Third Team All-American last year.

Wedel ranks second in the GPAC in both kills per set (4.2) and hitting percentage (.342) while ranking among the NAIA’s top 15 in both statistical categories. She has hit for double figures in all but two matches played and has 12 double-doubles (kills – digs). Wedel was a 2017 NAIA First Team All-American and will be a two-time NAIA Scholar Athlete in volleyball. She is also a two-time all-conference selection in basketball and is a junior psychology major with a 3.52 GPA.

Northwestern, the GPAC Regular Season Champion, has a 28-1 record and qualified for the upcoming NAIA Volleyball National Championship to be played in Sioux City, Iowa, from Dec. 3-7.
