Hull, Iowa — Sioux County authorities investigated a rather unusual collision Tuesday afternoon near Hull.

According to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, their deputies investigated a commercial vehicle accident that happened on Highway 18, two and one-half miles west of Hull.

The mishap occurred when 51-year-old Russell Myers, of Laird Hill, Texas, was westbound on Highway 18, driving a 2013 Kenworth semi-truck pulling a flatbed trailer loaded with a windmill base. Deputies say as the truck drove underneath the BNSF railway bridge overpass above the highway, the windmill base struck the overpass.

Authorities say the windmill base sustained approximately $5,000 in damage, while the BNSF Railway property sustained approximately $75,000 in damage.

Myers escaped injury in the collision. He reportedly was cited for operating with excess load height.

Authorities say the accident remains under investigation.
