Boyden, Iowa — A Boyden man was taken to a hospital after an accident in Boyden on Monday morning.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 6:50 a.m., 20-year-old Davis Van Roekel of Boyden was driving a 2007 Toyota Camry eastbound on Highway 18. He stopped for traffic before attempting a right turn onto Colfax Street. They report that 27-year-old Brady Gonzales of Orange City was driving a 2012 Ford Taurus eastbound on Highway 18 behind Van Roekel and struck Van Roekel in the intersection.

The Boyden Ambulance Squad took Van Roekel to Sanford Sheldon Hospital.

They tell us the Van Roekel Toyota and the Gonzales Ford sustained about $7,000 in damage, each.

Gonzales was cited for following too closely.

The sheriff’s office says the Boyden Fire Department and Boyden Ambulance Squad assisted them with the response to the accident.
