An 11 point deficit proved to be too much to overcome and the Dordt Defenders lost an 89-79 road decision to the Briar Cliff Chargers on Wednesday night in Sioux City.

The Chargers held the lead from start to finish as they built a 17-6 advantage just over six minutes into the game.   The Defenders proceeded to cut the lead to 20-18 as Alec Henrickson converted a three-point basket with 10:52 remaining in the half. The Chargers responded by getting as much as a 14 point lead in the half before getting to halftime with a 44-33 edge.

Chad Barkema and Garrett Franken each had field goals to start the second half to get the lead down to seven but the visitors were unable to get closer until a Ben Gesink bucket with 12:45 got Dordt to within six.  The charge continued and Dordt trailed by three after Franken knocked down a three-point basket from the right corner with 8:10 left in the game to bring the difference to 65-63.

The two point difference was as close as the Defenders would get as Briar Cliff got a three and Dordt a two and the Defenders would get no closer than four the rest of the game.
