Hull, Iowa — A car was damaged in a fire on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 near Hull.

According to Hull Fire Chief Greg Van Roekel, about 10:20 a.m., the Hull Fire Department was called to the report of a vehicle and ditch fire at 320th Street and Indian Avenue, about a mile east of Hull on Highway 18.

The chief says an Iowa State Trooper had radioed in the fire, and by the time the fire department arrived, the trooper had put out the fire with his fire extinguisher. For a time, emergency crews thought that a nearby ditch fire had been started by the car fire, but Van Roekel says that was unrelated. He says the farmer was just burning the ditch on purpose.

Van Roekel says no injuries were reported. He says the cause of the fire is undetermined.

Chief Van Roekel reports that there was extensive damage to the interior of the car.

He says crews were on scene for just a few minutes.
