Rock Valley, Iowa — On Sunday, January 6, at 12:13 p.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident that occurred on Elmwood Avenue, two miles south of Rock Valley.

Curtis Van Der Vliet, age 52, of Sioux Center was driving a 2007 Ford F150 pickup northbound on Elmwood Avenue. Kevin Ymker, age 36, of Ireton was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Suburban southbound on Elmwood Avenue. Van Der Vliet attempted to make a left turn onto a residential driveway when his vehicle struck Ymker’s vehicle.

No injuries were reported.

The Ford sustained approximately $5,500 in damages. The Chevrolet sustained approximately $4,500 in damages.

Van Der Vliet was cited for fail to yield upon left turn.
