Rural Rock Valley, Iowa — A Hartford, SD man received minor injuries and the truck he was driving sustained severe damage in a semi rollover accident on Wednesday morning (11/14) near Rock Valley.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that just before 6:10 AM, 58-year-old John O’Kane of Hartford, SD was driving a 2009 Peterbuilt semi‐tractor pulling a tanker carrying milk southbound on Fir Avenue, five miles south of Rock Valley.

O’Kane lost control. The semi entered the east ditch and overturned.

O’Kane sustained minor injuries and refused medical treatment.

The semi‐tractor and trailer sustained approximately $60,000 in damages. A culvert, owned by Sioux County, sustained approximately $1,000 in damages.

O’Kane was cited for failure to maintain control.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Iowa Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle
Enforcement Division.
