Republicans Draft $154 million Budget For Courts; Hull Rep. Alons Singled Out For Conservative Views

Republicans in the Iowa House have drafted a 154-million dollar budget plan for the state’s court system, and Representative Dwayne Alons from Hull is being singled out for his conservative views. Representative Gary Worthan, a Republican from Storm Lake, says the G-O-P plan for the courts provides the same amount of money next year that the courts have been operating with this year.Representative Todd Taylor, a Democrat from Cedar Rapids, says the G-O-P plan is too austere.

A Nebraska man has been sentenced to a suspended prison term, probation, and several other sentence stipulations after he was found to be a felon in possession of a firearm in Sioux County.
A Sheldon man has been arrested on an assault charge.
